Exceptional Keris handle

Bali Indonesia
Made entirely of gold, which is very rare for this kind of model, it is enriched with twenty one diamonds, sixteen rubies and six sapphires, two of which are black. Kocet-Kocetant model made for the Brahmans (priests and assimilated scholars). In the form of an insect, probably the Hoplocerambyx spinicornis, this handle is supposed to be a reminder of Batara Karpa, the insect son of Kasyapa.
